Welcome to Our New MA Students

Students and staff welcoming you to the school

We're looking forward to welcoming you to the School of Languages and Cultures for your postgraduate studies! We are sure you will enjoy studying with us.

An introductory meeting will be held at 10.00a.m. on Monday 23rd September 2013, and will end at approximately 12 noon. The purpose of this meeting is to welcome you to the School and for you to meet the Postgraduate teaching staff and your fellow students and to talk generally about the course. You will also meet your Personal Tutor. A series of activities will follow this meeting to assist you with choosing your modules and settling into your new environment.

At the introductory meeting, you will receive your student handbook and your module choice form. Each MA programme is made up of core and optional modules; please see the regulations for your MA programme for the specific module breakdown. The total number of credits which you can take is 120 for a Diploma and 180 for an MA, the latter including Dissertation and Dissertation Support modules.

With the help of your tutors, you will decide which optional modules you will study, in addition to your core modules. You will complete your module choice form and take this to Registration, which will be on Friday 27th September in Sports Hall 1 of the Goodwin Centre.

The Intro Week Timetable will be published in early September. There is further general information here:
