The resources on this page are intended to be of use for your research and study. Please note that many of these sites lie outside the University website, and so their content is not under our control. Remember to use your discretion when using web-based resources for your work. Always ask yourself who wrote the information you are looking at - why did they write it? Who was the intended audience? How biased is it? And has it been subject to peer review or rigorous academic editing?

Library You will need to use the University Library constantly as you are studying, for both print material (searchable through the online Star service) and the wide range of electronic resources that have recently become available. Every student needs to know these basics, so have a look through it now. The format is designed to be especially accessible to dyslexic students, but the content is vital to everyone.	The Oxford English Dictionary The widely accepted standard reference point for the English language, endlessly useful when you are writing essays. The OED can be regarded as the definitive source of Standard English (colloquially known as "correct" English).
Online Dictionary of Mental Health A global information resource and research tool covering all of the disciplines contributing to understanding of mental health . The Dictionary is an exercise in democratic psychiatry, therefore there are no definitions; instead there are links to many sites offering different viewpoints on issues in mental health. University Record Check your own record and make sure you are registered for the correct modules and that your addresses are correct. The University needs to be informed of where you want your mail directing. This is your responsibility. This can be done over the web or at SSiD. You will need a computer network username and password which are available once you register as a student.	Students' Charter This Charter is a partnership document between the University of Sheffield and its students, setting out individual rights and responsibilities to help students and staff work together in a spirit of co-operation. The Charter explains what is required of students, their legal responsibilities and how they might benefit most from their academic studies at Sheffield.

Careers The University Careers service provides an integrated guidance, information, vacancy and work experience service for undergraduate and postgraduate students and recent graduates of the University.
