Application Forms
To apply for a place please complete the University's online Postgraduate application process, link below, and also complete the reference form at the top right of this page.
Please ensure that you read these notes before completing the application form and also ensure that you send the reference forms to your nominated referees to complete.
You will be guided through this on the online application form.
Postgraduate application process
Complete Part 1 of both reference forms and post or pass on to your referees. It is your responsibility to ensure that your referees provide their references.
Please note that in section C.13, the department is `School of Nursing and Midwifery´ In section C.15 you should `Part time´ and 'Distance Learning'.
If you do not have all of your supporting documents ready at the time of application you may send them after you have applied. In addition the standard supporting documents required by the University we also need proof of your current registration as a nurse and/or Midwife. A scanned copy of your registration document or card is sufficient. For UK-registered applicants giving us your PIN number will allow us to verify your current status with the NMC.
Please remember to write your name and the programme you have applied for on all correspondence that you send in support of your application.
Criminal Convictions
You must tell us of any relevant criminal convictions you may have. Relevant criminal convictions are for offences against the person, whether of a violent or a sexual nature, and convictions for offences involving unlawfully supplying controlled drugs or substances where the conviction concerns commercial drug dealing or trafficking. Convictions that are spent (as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974) are not considered to be relevant and you should not reveal them unless you are applying for a course in teaching, health, social work or any courses which involve work with children or vulnerable adults. See our Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure Statement [Prospective Students] at www.sheffield.ac.uk/apply/pgnotes for further information.
Please note that having a criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from studying at the University of Sheffield. This will depend on the nature of the course you are applying for and the circumstances and background of your offences.
After you have submitted your application
When we receive your application we will send you an acknowledgement letter or email.
Although we try to deal with decisions as quickly as possible, there are sometimes delays such as having to wait for transcripts or referees reports to arrive and it can take a number of weeks before we can notify you of a decision.
Please note that applications for our courses need to be sent as soon as possible but in no case later than the end of July for courses starting in September/October.
If you have any further questions, please contact us (g.toon@sheffield.ac.uk).
