Biography

I joined the University if Sheffield in 1995 having previously worked for a number of years in the Sheffield and North Trent College of Nursing and Midwifery. The main focus of my involvement with the University has centred on the delivery of Post-registration Education for Health Professionals in the field of Orthopaedics along with Research Appreciation and Application.

I have a particular interest in teaching and learning quality and standards and, as well as acting Chair of the School Learning and Teaching Committee, represent the School on Faculty Learning and Teaching Committee.  As Associate Faculty Director for Quality and Standards I represent Faculty on University Quality and Standards Committee and have been involved in a number of sub-committees in this role.

I am currently the Programme Leader for the Pre-registration Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (Adult) leading to registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Research Interests

My research interests are centred on the Psycho-social Impact of Limb Reconstruction.

Teaching Interests

My teaching interests are around Orthopaedics and Trauma, Professional Issues, Teaching and Learning Quality and Research Appreciation/Evidence Based Practice.

Professional activities

I am a member of the Royal College of Nursing and active in their Society of Orthopaedic and Trauma Nursing.

I am on the editorial board of the International Journal of Orthopaedic and Trauma Nursing and review for the Journal of Clinical Nursing and the Journal of Evidence Based Practice.
