Over 200 academic staff and students from the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York attended the Induction Event, 2 October 2012, at The Edge, University of Sheffield.

This was the first of the WRDTC events and conferences in 2012-13 for social scientists that forms one part of the wide range of training events and courses offered to the post graduate research community.

The day began with an introduction to the White Rose Doctoral Training Centre, short presentations from PhD students who joined the DTC last year, and a well received presentation from Library Services. During the afternoon groups moved into their pathway groups and started discussing how they would like to take forward their plans to build a dynamic research network in their discipline area.
