Visiting the University

Visiting

All students are encouraged to visit the University before making an application to determine whether the course and University is right for them. If you are thinking of applying and have a disability, it is particularly important to attend an open day as it gives you an opportunity to visit your chosen department, talk about your course and experience the facilities and support available. Open days are also a useful way of helping you to anticipate any extra support needs you may have when you come to university.

We are a city-based University and our campus spreads out from the city for about a mile. The University´s estate is a mixture of old and new buildings, so if physical access may be an issue for you, we strongly recommend you attend an open day.

Open Days

If you decide to come to an open day, please make sure you let your chosen department know about any requirements you have in advance. That way we can try to make your visit as useful as possible.

A visit will usually consist of a tour of the campus, including relevant academic departments, accommodation and library etc.

The Disability and Dyslexia Support Service usually have a presence at the main University Open Days, if you would like general advise about support at university then come and speak to someone there. If you would like to meet with a Disability Adviser during a visit to the University, please contact the DDSS and we will try to arrange a meeting at a convenient point in the day.
