Critical Support

The University´s critical support team is here to help staff, students and their families at times of serious incidents/emergencies, or the period following on from distressing events.

Critical incident support staff have helped in difficult situations including:

If any student is facing these or similar situations or a member of staff is worried about the welfare of a student, then you can speak to one of the co-ordinators. You might be referred elsewhere but by speaking to someone a potentially stressful situation can be shared. You do not necessarily need to give the name of the student.

Someone from the critical support team will be available to speak in confidence to worried individuals from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. Please call ext 24321 (from an outside line 0114 2224321) initially and you will then be directed to the appropriate person. You will not have to give full details at this initial call. You may leave a message and your call will be returned as soon as possible during working hours.

Alternatively you can email and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

If you want to talk to someone face to face straight away go to SSiD in the Students Union. They can help you or direct you to the critical support team.
