Semester Dates
Semester dates are confirmed by the Senate and Council and are displayed on the University website.
Academic departments are asked to notify the Taught Programmes Office if any of their undergraduate courses involve additional non-standard attendance at the University (for example as a result of compulsory project requirements) by January of the previous academic session, so that the information can be passed on to the Student Loans Company (SLC) and the NHS Grants Unit for the purposes of calculating student support entitlements for the following year. Extra SLC loans are available to students whose required attendance dates at the University during any session exceed 30 `term-time´ weeks. Please note that periods of work away from the University, e.g. field trips, are not viewed as additional attendance in this context.
