Appointments
We strongly encourage all disabled students and students with Specific Learning Difficulties to make an initial appointment with a Disability Adviser.
As you progress through your course, you can make further appointments with your adviser whenever you need them. E.g. you might need to change your support arrangements, or talk through a problem.
Disability Advisers are available throughout the week for appointments. You can make an appointment by:
- dropping in at the DDSS reception in the Alfred Denny Building
- telephoning reception on 0114 2221303
Please try to book your appointments well in advance. The DDSS is a busy service and appointment slots get booked up very quickly, particularly during the first few weeks of term.
What to bring?
In order to get the most out of your appointment, it is recommended that you bring along information which is relevant to your enquiry. This might be written evidence of your disability or other information relevant to your support, e.g. your needs assessment report; letters from your funding body about Disabled Students´ Allowance; or your learning plan from school.
In some cases you might not have any medical evidence or information about your support or funding; where necessary, we may request this on your behalf from appropriate services following your appointment.
