Disability Advisers

A team of Advisers work in the Disability and Dyslexia Support Service. The Advisers specialise in particular disabilities and have a range of knowledge and experience about the challenges that disabled students can face at University.

Your Disability Adviser can help with applying for any funding or allowances that you may be entitled to because of your disability. They can also arrange support workers and put exam adjustments into place. One of the key roles of the advisers is to liaise with your academic department or other University services about the specific adjustments and support that would help you to fully engage with your studies whilst you are at University.

We are unable to put any support in place for you until you have met with a Disability Adviser.

If you are based outside of the Sheffield area, it might be possible for you to arrange a telephone appointment. Please contact the DDSS to arrange this.

Some students may meet with an Adviser only a few times whilst they are at University whilst others may find that regularly catching up with a Disability Adviser helps them to feel in control and supported at University. The service is flexible enough to allow for a range of different needs.

The Disability Advisers work with an appointment system and an appointment can be booked to see an adviser by calling in at reception or by telephoning (0114 2221303) to book a time.
