Study Support Tutorials

Some students with specific learning difficulties (SpLD) are recommended study support tutorials.

These are provided by SpLD study support tutors at the English Language Teaching Centre.

The aim of a SpLD study support tutor is to increase a student's ability to be an independent learner. This involves one to one consultation sessions, where the student and tutor work in partnership to identify and build on the student's strengths and develop the skills they need to cope with any study difficulties. The sessions can focus on such areas as organisation of workload, time management, academic reading and writing skills, grammar and punctuation, as requested by the student.

Students are referred for one to one SpLD study support tutorials at the English Language Teaching Centre by the Disability and Dyslexia Support Service.

Group Study Support: How 2

The ELTC SpLD study support tutors also offer group study skills sessions ('How 2') which are open to all students and do not require a referral.

For more information regarding the group sessions contact the ELTC or via the 'How 2' web page.
