Students with Specific Learning Difficulties
Students with Specific Learning Difficulies (SpLD) are the largest of students supported by the Disability and Dyslexia Support Service.
Some students are aware that they have a specific learning difficulty when they enter higher education, others may become aware of their SpLD during their time at university. Students requiring a diagnosis are advised to contact us on 0114 22 21303.
Support available for students with specific learning difficulties may include some of the following:
- Study skills support with a SpLD support tutor
- Extra time in examinations
- Amanuensis (scribe) or use of a PC in examinations
- Copies of lecture notes and handouts prior to lectures
- Specialist software, e.g. Texthelp! Read and Write, mind mapping software
- Dictaphone to record lectures/seminars
- Stickers to flag up your SpLD on all assessed written work
- Additional library support
