EX Exempt Where a student has been formally exempted, as a result of previous study or work experience, from a module/unit which would normally be part of their degree programme, a module/unit outcome code of EX is recorded.
F Fail Where a student has attempted the assessment/examination for a module/unit and been awarded an overall fail numerical grade, then the corresponding module/unit outcome code is recorded as F.
MD Module Dropped (after the add/drop period) Where a student has been permitted to drop a module/unit after the end of the third week of the semester (the Add/Drop period) the module is not deleted from the student’s record, but a module/unit outcome code of MD is recorded.

NC Not Completed Where a student has not submitted work/taken an examination without the agreement of the department concerned or where work submitted/examination taken is deemed to be of no academic merit or where a department or the University Discipline Committee have made a decision to invoke the relevant General Regulations to refuse or deny credit for a module/unit, then a module outcome code of NC may be recorded with no numerical grade.
