Examinations Overseas

International students may apply to resit examinations in their home country.
Applications will be considered on an individual basis.
This is not a guaranteed service and you may be required to return to Sheffield, if appropriate arrangements cannot be made.
Please do not contact British Councils or other institutions or agencies directly.
Examinations which take place:
- January/February.
Students must have a unit result of Fail or Not assessed from a previous session, (External students). Applications are required by October 2011 and a payment of £255 will be required. Apply Here
- May/June.
Students must have a unit result of Fail or Not assessed from a previous session (External students). Applications are required by February 2012 and a payment of £255 will be required. Apply Here
- August (Undergraduates)
Students will recieve their exam results via MUSE from 7 July 2012. Applications are required no later than 20 July 2012. Any applications received after this date will not be processed and you will need to make arrangements to return to Sheffield. Apply Here.
- Other dates than those above.
Applications will be considered on an individual basis.
Postgraduate students
The dates of examination results vary. Applications will be considered on an individual basis. The earlier the application is received the more possibility that we will be able to provide this service.
Fees
An Overseas Exam fee of £255 is payable in addition to the reassessment fees. You can pay online at www.shef.ac.u/payments. The fee of £255 will be added to your record on receipt of your application. Please note that if you have any debts to the University you may not be able to continue on to the next level of your degree etc.
Erasmus, Study Abroad and Visiting students.
Students registered on Erasmus, Study Abroad or Visiting programmes should contact their home department at this University for advice.
What happens next?
On receipt of all completed applications recieved by the deadlines indicated above, the Examinations Team will contact the British Council or local agency.
If the British Council agrees to conduct the examinations.
You will be informed by email to your University email account approx. 2 weeks prior to the date of your examinations. Examinations will be conducted as close to the University of Sheffield timetable as possible.
The British Council is NOT available.
In the event that the British Council you request is unavailable, an alternative will be offered to you as soon as possible. If you do not wish to accept the alternative, you will be required to return to Sheffield.
How will I know when my exam takes place?
Examination timetables are available at http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/ssid/exams/timetables. You are required to check the dates of your examinations. Examinations will be conducted overseas on the same date as indicated and as close to Sheffield timings as possible.
To cancel an application.
If you decide you no longer require this service please email us no later than Monday 23 July 2012. No refunds will be issued if you cancel after this date.
