Examinations Overseas
Notes of guidance for International Students wishing to apply to take examinations in their home country in the next academic session. This service is not available to students from the European Union.
International students who are studying Foundation, First and Second year modules are asked to complete an application form prior to the publication of results, in the event that they receive a result of Fail (F), Not Completed (NC) or Not Assessed (NA). This does not apply to practical, clinical or oral work and the relevant academic department will offer advice on the reassessment arrangements.
Applications
Applications must be received by 09 June 2012. The form should be completed on the basis that you may need this service in August. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED YOUR RESULTS BEFORE APPLYING.The payment method must be included with the form, but will not be processed until Monday 23 July 2012. If we are unable to make arrangements for you in your home country the payment will be cancelled. If you cancel the application (in writing, by email, phone or fax) by Monday 23 July 2012, payment will not be processed. If you cancel after the deadline a refund will not be available, except where medical evidence is provided. If you apply and subsequently receive a level result of pass payment will not be taken.
Fees
A Special Centre Fee of £255 is payable in addition to the reassessment fee. A cheque made payable to "University of Sheffield", or a credit/debit card form should be included with the application. You will be advised of the exact amount nearer the time.
Erasmus, Study Abroad and Visiting students.
Students registered on Erasmus, Study Abroad or Visiting programmes should contact their home department at this University for advice.
What happens next?
On receipt of a completed application the Examinations Team will contact the British Council. You will receive confirmation that your form has been received by email.
If the British Council has agreed to conduct the examination.
You will be informed in writing to your University email account. Examinations will be conducted as close to the University of Sheffield timetable as possible. You can expect to receive full details in writing to your University email account at least two weeks prior to the date of your first examination.
The British Council is NOT available.
In the event that the British Council is unavailable,
you are required to return to Sheffield to sit your examinations. You will be informed as soon as possible and the Special Centre fee will be returned to you.
To cancel an application.
If you decide you no longer require this service please inform the Examinations Team no later than Monday 23 July 2012
How will I know when my exam takes place?
You will be informed in writing to your University email account and the contact details of the British Council will be provided at least two weeks prior to the date of the examination.
