For students who commenced studies prior to September 2006 (continuing students)
For students commencing studies in September 2006 (new students)
£1200
£3000
For the 2006/2007 academic year the University of Sheffield will be charging £3,000 to all new full-time UK/EU Undergraduates and UK/EU PGCE students. However, no eligible student (new or continuing) will have to pay tuition fee before or whilst studying. This is because you can apply for a tuition fee loan which you will not have to repay until you have graduated, have started work and are earning more than £15,000 a year. If you decide not to apply for a tuition fee loan from your LEA please be aware that you will have to pay your fee upfront, i.e. you cannot defer repaying your tuition fee until after you have graduated. You can also apply for a maintenance loan (repayable) and a maintenance grant (non-repayable).
In addition to any financial support you get in the form of loans and grants, you could also be eligible for a University of Sheffield bursary, please see www.sheffield.ac.uk/bursaries
Deferred Entry (Gap Year) Students who applied through UCAS before 1 August 2005, and requested to defer their entry to the University until September 2006, will be charged a tuition fee of £1,200. Student Recruitment, Admissions and Marketing wrote to these students earlier this year to inform them of the appropriate fee level. If you believe that you should be classed as a deferred entrant (£1,200 tuition fee) and have not received a letter confirming this, please contact Student Recruitment, Admissions and Marketing on 0114 222 8030.
Note: Students from the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man
A higher rate of fee applies to students from the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man. Please contact the relevant Island Education Board for further details and information on how to apply for funding.
