ALUMNI FUND SCHOLARSHIPS
Alumni Fund Scholarships are funded entirely by generous individual donations from alumni (former students) of the University, current and former staff, parents and friends. These scholarships are worth up to £3,000 each, and have been created to help bright students who might not otherwise be able to study here. More than 1,500 University alumni and friends make donations every year, to help give current Sheffield students the same opportunities that they received.
Scholarships Available
A collection of Scholarships have been created to help students studying in a variety of departments from a range of backgrounds. In 2009 we were very pleased to awarded 36 "Jack Reacher" Scholarships worth £2000 each to students from less well-off backgrounds. We hope to offer a wide range of scholarships in the future but they may be limited in number and we expect to receive a large number of applications. The selection process will be carried out by a panel, whose decision will be final. The following scholarships are expected to be available over the next year and we will contact all students via e.mail who are eligible to apply (Please note that you need to have applied for loan and grant assessment)
- Alumni Fund Undergraduate Scholarship - £3000 for students in receipt of a partial maintenance grant, selected in February of your first year.
- Alumni Fund Postgraduate Taught Scholarship - £2000, targeted at lower income students who were previously registered on an undergraduate course at the University of Sheffield.

Thanking our Donors
Those selected to receive an Alumni Scholarship, are asked to help us to thank our donors by, for example, writing a thank you letter to a donor, providing us with a quote and photo for our alumni publications, and/or providing an update on your progress and how the scholarship has helped you.
It is very important that we thank our donors and let them know that their support is appreciated and that it is making a difference.
