Part Time Undergraduate Students
This information is for students taking part time courses run by The Institute of Lifelong Learning (TILL)
Applying for a University fee waiver
Click on the link on the “Online Part Time Fee Waiver Application Form” link in the grey box on the right hand side of this page.
IMPORTANT:
We encourage students to apply as soon as you can, you do not need to wait for an offer of a place on your course.
You will be eligible to receive a part or full University fee waiver if;
- you are taking at least 60 credits each year of study
and
- your annual gross household income (i.e. before tax and national insurance) is £25,000 a year or less
and
- you have not already achieved previous HE level qualifications equivalent to or higher than the programme of study which you will be taking with TILL
and
- you have lived in the UK for 3 years prior to coming to university (not for the purpose of education) AND you have no immigration restrictions on how long you can stay in the UK
NB:
If you are an EU student you are eligible for a fee waiver as long as you can provide the required evidence.
Asylum seekers are not eligible; if you have Refugee status or have been granted humanitarian protection you are eligible as long as you have been resident in the UK for a full year prior to starting your studies.
Evidence Required
To be assessed for a fee waiver you will need to provide evidence of household income, this includes your income, your partners income, your parents income if they still support you.
All Students
To confirm your household please provide:
- a copy of your council tax letter OR
- a copy of your rent agreement / mortgage statment
You can show total household income by providing ANY of the following:
- P60
- 3 months' wage slips
- benefits letter
- 3 months bank statements showing income
Students who live in a shared house
If you live with others but you are not financially supported by them we require evidence of payments you make for rent and bills, you can highlight these on your bank statements.
Students who live at home with their parents
Students who live at home with their parents may also wish to provide a statement from their parents indicating the rent/board you pay.
When we have assessed your application for a fee waiver, we will write to you to let you know what happens next.

Access to Learning Fund
Students may be eligible for a small grant to help them with the following additional costs:
- childcare when attending classes
- additional travel costs associated with your studies
