Engineering Academic Achievement Scholarships in 2013
In 2013 a number of our departments within the Faculty of Engineering will be offering Academic Achievement Scholarships if you're starting your degree this year. These are designed to reward academic excellence that you have achieved prior to starting your course. There may also be awards given for continued excellence whilst you study with us. These are in addition to you Loans, Grants, Bursaries and our Sheffield Scholars Scheme. Your financial circumstances will not affect your eligibility and you will be assessed automatically.
The departments that have confirmed they are taking part in this scheme are listed below. This list will be kept up to date throughout 2013. Please select your department to find out more. If you are unsure which department your course sits in please check using our online prospectus.

The Department provides Scholarships for all Home and EU students entering in September 2013 who achieve AAA in their A-levels (or equivalent).
An Academic Achievement Scholarship is worth £3000 of which £2000 is paid after you’ve registered onto your course and a second instalment of £1000 is paid at the end of the first year if an average grade of 70% or more is achieved.
Bioengineering
Academic Achievement Scholarships are available for all Home and EU students entering in September 2013 who achieve AAA (or equivalent) and who make Bioengineering at Sheffield their firm choice.
These Scholarships are worth £2000 in total. £1000 is paid after registration and a second instalment of £1000 is paid at the end of the first year if you have achieved an average grade of 60% or higher in that year.
Chemical and Biological Engineering
The Department is offering a number of scholarships to Home/EU students with established and continued academic excellence. Students who achieve AAA or higher at A-level (or equivalent) will receive the following awards.
• Students with AAA will receive £1000
• Students with A*AA will receive £1500
• Students achieving marks higher than A*AA will receive £2000
You will automatically receive 50% of your Scholarship when you start your course. The remaining 50% will be awarded at the end of your first year provided you have achieved an average grade of 60% or higher in that year.

Computer Science
The Department is offering a number of Academic Achievement Scholarships to UK and EU students.
Scholarships of £2,000 will be awarded as a one-off payment in recognition of academic excellence to students starting an undergraduate degree in 2013. Students are required to have achieved A level grades of AAA or above (or equivalent). Students will receive a further £1000 upon successfully achieving a 70% average or higher at the end of the first year.
Electronic and Electrical Engineering
The Department is offering a number of Academic Achievement Scholarships to UK and EU students.
Scholarships of £2,000 will be awarded as a one-off payment in recognition of academic excellence to students starting an undergraduate degree in 2013. Students are required to have achieved A level grades of AAA or above (or equivalent). Students will receive a further £1000 upon successfully achieving a 70% average or higher at the end of the first year.
EEE Continuing Excellence Awards
These awards are given to continuing Home and EU students moving from Year 1 to Year 2. Two awards are available:
• An award of £1000 is available for qualifying students who achieve an average of 70% or greater
• An award of £500 is available for qualifying students who achieve an average between 65% and 70%
These are in addition to the above, and are available to all Home/EU students and are not based on achievements prior to starting your course.
Materials Science and Engineering
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering is offering a number of Academic Achievement Scholarships to UK and EU students entering in 2013.
Scholarships of up to £2,000 will be awarded as a one-off payment in recognition of academic excellence. The Scholarship will be paid automatically in October 2013. To be eligible for an academic achievement scholarship you must have made The University of Sheffield your first (firm) choice in the UCAS application process. The value of the Scholarships depends on your A level (or equivalent) grades achieved as follows:
• AAA or above (or equivalent): £2,000
• AAB (or equivalent): £1,000
• ABB (or equivalent): £500
