Visa Correction Scheme
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office now offer a visa correction scheme for students who were granted Insufficient Leave after an application to the British Embassy/High Commission in their country. If those who took all the correct documents (including unconditional offer acceptance certifying letter) have not been issued with full visa entitlement this will be corrected free of charge.
THIS SCHEME IS ONLY FOR THOSE WHO APPLIED FOR THEIR VISA IN THEIR HOME COUNTRY.
IT DOES NOT INCLUDE:
- Students who have extended Leave to Remain whilst in the UK
- Students who were granted insufficient Leave to Remain in their home country and have subsequently extended Leave to Remain whilst in the UK
- Students who have been granted entry clearance by immigration officials at port of entry
- Students who apply with conditional offer letter.
ENTRY CLEARANCE CORRECTION SCHEME
The guidance which Entry Clearance Officers are supposed to follow when issuing student entry clearances is that:
- POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS should be given the length of their course plus 4 months.
- NON-POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS COMING FOR COURSES OF ONE ACADEMIC YEAR OR MORE THAT FINISH IN THE SUMMER should be given until 31st October following the end of their course.
- NON-POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS COMING FOR COURSES OF ONE ACADEMIC YEAR OR MORE THAT DO NOT FOLLOW THE STANDARD AUTUMN TO SUMMER PATTERN should be given the length of their course plus 2 months.
- If point 1, 2 or 3 above applies to you and you feel that you were not granted your full Leave entitlement, please go to SSiD in the Union Building and collect an Insufficient Leave Correction Form. You will need to complete the form and:
