If you are in the UK on a student visa and you fail an assessment this may have an impact on your student visa. The information on this page is for Tier 4 (General) student visa holders. If you made an application for a new visa or visa extension on or after 31 March 2009, you have a Tier 4 (General) student visa.

Your level result is (P) pass / M

You are permitted to proceed as long as you have valid visa.


Your level / year end result is (PC) Permitted to Proceed Carrying Fails / MC

You are permitted to proceed as long as you have valid visa.


Your level result is (F) Fail

You are permitted to proceed as long as you have valid visa. If you are required to re-sit examinations you will receive further immigration information following your re-sit examinations.


Your level / year end results is (FN) Fail, progress under review

Your level result is (LOA) Leave of Absence

When your leave of absence was approved, you will have received email correspondence from the International Student Services team informing you of the immigration implications of taking a leave of absence. Refer to this information if you are unsure if your leave of absence will affect your visa status.
