1. Theatres
The Crucible and Lyceum Theatres are in the City Centre. Many plays come to Sheffield before going to the West End of London. Concerts, operas and dance performances are also staged. Students can expect to receive a %20 discount Monday - Friday and on Young People's Performances (16-26 year olds) tickets at £5 or £7.50. Many student and amateur dramatic societies put on productions at the University Drama Studio.
2. Cinemas
As well as the cinema in the Union of Students, there is one multi-screen cinema in the City Centre and one four-screen independent cinema. At Meadowhall, 20 minutes bus or tram journey from the City Centre there is a ten screen cinema and a new 10-screen cinema based at Valley Centertainment in the Don Valley. Students´ discounted tickets are £3.80. (Please note: for internet bookings a booking fee is applies).
3. Night Clubs
There is a wide variety of night clubs in and around the city.
4. Sport
There are many sports events in Sheffield with local football, basketball, and ice-hockey teams. The University and City facilities (such as the Sheffield Arena, Don Valley Stadium and Pond´s Forge International Swimming Centre) attract sporting events at national and international levels.
