What support is available?

If you are dealing with a drug or alcohol problem or are worried about a friend, there are a number of support services that you can contact for information and advice.

The University  Counselling Service website has useful information about dealing with drug and alcohol problems. Or you can speak to a doctor at the University Health Service, or your GP.

I am worried about legal issues

Some drug incidents will have disciplinary/criminal proceedings whilst others will require specific support and rehabilitation. Some cases will result in both disciplinary/criminal proceedings and support.

A lot of events seem to be based around alcohol, but I don't drink

Alcohol can seem to play a significant role in the social activities of many students in the UK.  However, there are many events and activities run by the Students' Union that don't take place in bars or don't involve drinking.  You can find out more by visiting the Students' Union website or by contacting the Students' Union Welfare Officer.
