Personal Tutors

mature

Your department will allocate you a Personal Tutor. They will arrange to meet you at the beginning of your course and at least once every semester thereafter. However if you have any academic or personal concerns you can arrange to see them when you need to. A number of departments have a designated tutor who deals with issues relating to mature students. You can ask for further information from your departmental office.

Staff-Student Committees

This is a chance to get actively involved in the University. Every department has a Staff-Student Committee; the structure of each committee varies depending on the size and nature of the department.
Usually student membership includes two or three representatives from each course year. It might also include representatives from specific groups such as mature students, dual honours students and international students.

Committees´ discussions relate to both academic and non-academic issues about the department and university in general. You don´t have to be part of the committee to get involved. You can ask your student representative to raise issues on your behalf.
Communication about Staff-Student Committees is usually via the notice board in your department.
