Bazaar Ideas set to become creative gold

Bring your ideas alive at the city’s first ever free event that offers funding for the best creations.

September’s Ideas Bazaar will bring together staff, students, creative practitioners from the city and members of the public with creative ideas. The event will be compered by writer and broadcaster Christopher Green who will act as a cultural matchmaker. Christopher will introduce people and help new ideas develop, with funding available to make the best ideas happen.

The Ideas Bazaar is for everyone in the city who has creative ideas, whether they be in the arts or sciences, history or any other field. If you live or work in the city and you're interested in ideas and creativity, then this event is for you.

The Ideas Bazaar is free to all, including the stalls where you will be able to bring along exhibits to showcase your ideas – or a single object to act as a talking point or to summarise your work.

Professor Keith Burnett, Vice-Chancellor of the University said: "Sheffield is an exciting creative place where ideas abound – in the arts, sciences, performance and innovation. We are also an international community, and our ideas stretch from the home-grown to the global and even out into space!

"We want to bring together anyone else in the city who loves ideas and would like to share them –practitioners, students, teachers, academics... or anyone with a genuine interest. The Ideas Bazaar is part of The University of Sheffield's ongoing commitment to the cultural and creative life of the city."

The Ideas Bazaar is part of the run up to the city-wide Festival of the Mind September 2012. It will be held in Firth Hall, Firth Court on 21 September from 11am – 4pm.
