New Engineering Building will open door to growth and investment
The University’s planning application for the New Engineering Building on the Jessop East site was last night (17 December) approved by members of the city council’s planning committee.
The decision brings the start of work on the £81million state-of-the-art building one step closer.

Student security announcement from South Yorkshire Police
On Monday 26 November in the Crookesmoor Road/Barber Road area of Sheffield there were a number of robberies where the victims were students.
Anyone with information is asked to please contact the Police by calling 101.
Extra police officers both uniformed and in plain clothes are patrolling the area and enquiries to identify the offender are ongoing.

Will you take the Arts Tower Challenge?
Student Fundraisers are being challenged to climb the University’s iconic Arts Tower to raise money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
The Take the Stairs challenge aims to get people climbing all 390 steps of the 78-metre high building and participants will be treated to breathtaking views over the city when they reach the top.

Watch out for mobile phone thieves
There has been a significant increase recently in mobile phone thefts across Sheffield in Cafés, late bars and clubs.
Students are being advised to watch out for these opportunistic thieves. Keep your bag with you and fastened at all times as many thefts have been from unattended or unfastened shoulder or hand bags.
