In addition to what you are studying – the specific discipline or disciplines – university also gives you a crash course in learning more generally. Because higher education is all about independent learning, because you are going to spend at least three years doing this here, and because you can take the ability to learn independently on with you into any future career, it is very important to understand how you study.

University relies on a range of different ways of learning and the skills that go with them, but will always include some key elements as covered in this section.
