Dates and Deadlines

This table outlines key dates and deadlines through the programme from application to departure.

This is not a comprehensive guide.

November

Attend the Study Abroad and Erasmus Fair (first Wednesday of the month)
Contact your Study Abroad Adviser to gain approval to apply for for a place on the programme
Obtain the list of courses that you need to match with the host Universities
Apply on line for a place on the programme and ask your Study Abroad Adviser to provide a reference

December

Deadline for applying: 1st of December
Deadline for Tutor Refereneces: 16th of December

January

Tutor Review Group Meeting: 10th January 2012
Decision letters are mailed to Sheffield and home addresses. ASAP after 10th January
Group 1 Orientation Meeting
23 January 2012

February

Group 2 Orientation Meeting take place
22 February 2012
(depended on allocated host University - see Orientation webpages)
Group 1 Deadline to hand in Host applications: 9th February 2012
Group 1 Applications go off to host Universities for approval

March

Group 2 deadline
07 March 2012
Group 3 Orientation Meeting:
28th March 2012
There is not much happening whilst you are waiting for the host University to contact you about the outcome of your application.
The International Exchanges Unit makes checks with Departmental Study Abroad Advisers that you have sucessfully passed your semester 1 exams.

If there are any issues your Departmental Study Abroad Advisers will make an appointment to meet with you to discuss issues.

April

Group 3 deadline
11 April 2012
Mid to late April decisions on applications start to filter through from Australia
Action any paper work the host university has requested you to do
The International Exchanges Unit will contact you about any events or workshops which will be taking place

May

Pre-Departure Meeting - Around 7th of May
Further decisions on applications will come through
Students going to Australia will start to apply for their Visa
Exam period for everyone

June

Visa applications and invesigation of flights will start to happen for students going outside of Australia
Investigate health and travel insurence (students going outside of Australia)
End of term at the University of Sheffield -
9th of June 2012
The International Exchanges Unit makes checks with Departmental Study Abroad Advisers that you have sucessfully passed your semester 2 exams.

July

Students going to Australia will depart the UK and commense Orientation Programmes
Students going outside of Australia will finalise plans and enjoy the summer break.

Students going to the USA will attend a VISA inteview in London.

August/September

Students going outside of Australia will depart the UK and commense Orientation Programmes

October onwards

Enjoy your time in your new country!

You must ensure that you contact your Departmental Study Abroad Adviser with the full details of your finalised study plan.

You MUST do this before the the add/drop period finishes at your host University.
