Finances for your Study Abroad Programme

Finances will play a major part in your Study Abroad Programme. This section will talk about all the different areas.

Student Loans, Grants or Scholarships

Any loans, grants or Scholarships you are entitled to are not affected by taking part on the Study Abroad Programme.

Should you have any questions about any of the above for your time abroad, you should contact the provider.

The International Exchanges Unit doesn't have any contact with them.

It is your responsibility to contact them for information or guidance.

University of Sheffield Bursary Scheme

If your course includes a year abroad or in industry, you will not receive a bursary for that year

Tuition Fees during your time abroad

Tuition fees abroad

No tuition fees are payable to the overseas university.

Tuition fees to Sheffield

Students spending an academic year abroad for 2012/13 are required to pay 50% of the tuition fee (£1732.50)

From 2012 applicants will pay £2000 to the University of Sheffield during the year abroad.

No tuition fees are payable abroad in any circumstance.

Working whilst studying abroad

If you are thinking about working during your time abroad, you need to check the webpages for the host University and also the Embassy for that country.

Some Universities/countries do not allow students to work during their stay.

You must clarify this prior to applying for your visa as you may need to declare that you want to work at visa application stage.

All questions need to be refered to the Embassy for the country you are going to.
