BioModularH2

BioModularH2 is an EU-FP6 project NEST (contract number 043340) that aims to show the value of Synthetic Biology in producing biohydrogen. This is to be achieved by designing various devices making use of the native capability of cyanobacteria to produce hydrogen, as a by-product of atmospheric-nitrogen fixation.

The teams include groups from France, Israel, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. The University of Sheffield is involved more specifically in the characterisation of the cyanobacteria, from the point of view of gene expression, proteomics, and metabolomics.
