Hub Structure
We are now moving from an initial consultation phase to consider and work through how the hub can be constructed.
Ongoing consultation with staff and students has provided a range of valuable insights. These have been complemented by our initial attempts to conceptualise and write small sections of the site.
TASH is conceived as a light central resource. It will signpost students to the good stuff that already exists out there in the University and beyond. It cannot and must not reinvent the wheel.
At least three parallel tensions are emerging at the core of the development process:
- a desire to help the greatest number of students find and make use of the excellent resources which already exist;
- the recognition that for most students this will mean the construction of an engaging interface which answers their immediate queries quickly and effectively (what we might call the “quick fix”);
- the need to provide users of the hub with sufficient understanding of the time and effort required to fully exploit the resources they will be signposted to once they leave the hub.
These initial thoughts are elaborated further in the documents available as downloads on the right-hand side of the page.
