Postgraduate Research Studentships

Applications are invited from candidates wishing to study processes of spatial change and to contribute to debates in the social sciences, while enhancing understandings of policy and practice in relation to places, cities and regions.

Staff of the Department have wide-ranging theoretical and practical research interests that include the following fields:

  • Postcolonial studies and the global South
  • Urban and regional political economy
  • Property market analysis
  • Discourses of spatial governance
  • Planning, theory and practice
  • Spatial policy analysis

The Department is England's highest-rated Planning department (5a in the last RAE; 23/24 in the Teaching Quality Assessment) and welcomes applications from UK or EU candidates with outstanding honours degrees or masters qualifications. Funding sources include two ESRC Studentships, and for entry for one ESRC competition award.
