The Department of Town and Regional Planning is internationally renowned as a centre of excellence and we warmly welcome applications from international students who bring a diverse wealth of experience and knowledge to us. We have a number of international students at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Because of the high value the department places on its international students we provide a structured programme of support for your studies. This includes workshops on study skills and small-group English language teaching through all years of study.

Relocation to the UK

Moving to the UK to study can seem like a daunting task but we are here to help you every step of the way. The University's designated International Office provides valuble help and assistantce for prospective international students, including information specific to students from various countries. English Language Skills

You will have the opportunity to improve your english language skills here at the department as we offer a wealth of support and guidance. We have a dedicated English Language Tutor that offers one to one English teaching, watch the video below.

English Language Teaching Centre

Our English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC) offers a wide range of English language courses and services for University students and departments, as well as the public.

Please note that applicants for whom English is not their first language will be required to provide evidence of English Language proficiency at IELTS 7.0 (minimum 6.0 in each component) or equivalent. This is higher than the University's standard entrance requirement.

International Research

Our research has a strong international focus including work in Egypt, South Africa, India, Norway, France, Canada, Australia, Korea and Denmark, amongst others. We have a strong link with the Department of Planning at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. The Department is also currently establishing a link with staff from the University of Xian, China. International research specialists include.
