Postgraduate research at Sheffield: the Research School
A central component of the Department's research activities is its flourishing postgraduate Research School, currently home to about forty students from sixteen countries. The School offers the higher degrees of PhD and MPhil.
Research students carry out empirical research across the globe and their PhD topics cover an extensive range of subjects, including:

- governance and public involvement
- informal settlements
- property market development
- sustainable development
- uneven regional development
- values and professionalism in planning
