RAE grade 5a: England's top planning school
The Department's main aim is to maintain and enhance its standing in the research community and in particular to maintain its international reputation for undertaking leading edge research in planning.
The national and international excellence of the Department's research record was confirmed by the 5A rating it achieved in the 2001 HEFCE Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).
The Department of Town and Regional Planning is the only accredited planning school in England to have achieved the 5A rating in the 2001 RAE. This means that you will be taught by academics who are recognised as being at the forefront of research in their field.
