PhD research in the Department of Town and Regional Planning
The Department of Town and Regional Planning (TRP) is a leading international centre of excellence for planning research and was ranked as the top UK planning school in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. The Department is renowned for the quality of its research degrees. PhD research is supported by a concerted programme of research training, international specialist supervision is provided by leading researchers in their field. TRP has long been recognised for its innovation in doctoral training. We are now part of the White Rose Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) which is one of a limited number of national centres of excellence in social science doctoral training supported by the UK Economic and Social Research Council. The White Rose DTC is one of the largest consortia in the country and offers exciting opportunities for students to work together with others studying across the Universities of Sheffield, York and Leeds, with numerous opportunities to develop their interdisciplinary networks and expertise.

TRP is also centrally involved in the University of Sheffield´s doctoral training centre on Energy Futures funded by the UK Economic and Physical Sciences Research Council.
