Evaluation of SMEs network policies in an urban area in South Korea
Since the 1980s, it is acknowledged that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have considerably contributed to urban economic development through. In particular, it is recognised that high technology SMEs and their networking play important roles in regenerating urban economy. Therefore, many central and local governments including South Korea have been trying to make policies to support SMEs and formulate networks between SMEs, and between SMEs and other actors in urban areas in order to faciliate urban economy. In this respect, I will evaluate policies regarding high-tech SMEs networks in a metropolitan area, focusing how and to what extent those policie can enhance local linkages between SMEs and urban economic development.
