Responsibilities

As Departmental Manager it is my job is to manage all administrative aspects of the Dept of TRP in conjunction with the Head of Dept, Craig Watkins. This varied role includes management and leadership of all administrative and support staff in the department; strategic policy formulation and academic planning; managing the departments budget and financial planning; managing the operational infrastructure of the department and ensuring that it supports teaching, research and administration; assisting with the management of academic staff and advising on personnel issues.

I'm a member of the Departmental Executive and Departmental Research Committee. I'm also a member of the Faculty of Social Sciences Administrators Group.

Biography

I have worked as a manager in higher education since 1999, spending 8 years at the University of Leeds, before joining the University of Sheffield as Head of Administration in the School of Education in 2007. Following 4 happy and successful years in Education, in the summer of 2011 I was invited to take on a new position as Departmental Manager across the two departments of Town & Regional Planning and Geography. Being a geography graduate myself, I feel very much at home in both departments!
