The market for planning graduates is likely to remain buoyant. A recent report for the Government's Academy for Sustainable Communities, Mind the Skills Gap (Arup. 2007), has forecast significant labour shortages in terms of planning-related professions by 2012. This includes:
91% shortfall in landscape architects and urban designers
17% shortfall in developers
46% shortfall in planners
73% shortfall in regeneration professionals
74% shortfall in sustainability specialists
11% shortfall in transport planners

The next 5-10 years will be an excellent time to be a planning graduate. Already, our graduates have a number of choices of destination, and this is likely to increase in the future.
