UCAS Departmental Open Days for entry 2011/2012

Our Department Open Day gives you a chance to find out more about our city, our university and our courses at the Department of Town and Regional Planning. You also get to meet several of our current students (from various year groups) and meet different staff members, including senior members of the Undergraduate Team. We provide coursework and exam work for you to look at and we arrange a visit to one of our halls of residence. In addition you benefit from a coach tour of the Western fringe of the city, where the University is located, and spend time learning about the ways in which we teach. You are given the chance to ask all your burning questions and we provide a full sandwich lunch for you. We enjoy meeting potential applicants on open days – we are keen to know about your motivations and interests in studying planning, geography or urban issues.

Open Days will be held on the following dates:

•Wednesday 14 December 2011
•Wednesday 15 February 2012
•Wednesday 14 March 2012

All open days run from about 10.30am until 4.15pm. You are automatically invited to our open days if you have applied to us through UCAS and we have made you an offer. Obviously if the open day we have invited you to is not convenient please arrange (with us) to come to one on a different date.

If for some reason you are not applying through UCAS (eg you are a direct transfer student, a student from Sheffield International College etc) you are also most welcome to our open days. Contact us to arrange this.

Please contact Mel Holdsworth for more information about open days, via the contacts page link below:

Recent student comments on our Open Days:

Sophie, Level 1 student

"The open day was well organized, varied and interesting..[and it] provided us with a first taste of university life, which I found most useful.
Although I had already decided on Sheffield University as my first choice, it was helpful to learn about the different courses within Town & Regional Planning and the variety of modules". (Sophie)

Maya, level 1 student

"All the staff seemed really friendly making it feel very welcoming. The most important aspect of my open day was the way we had a bus tour of the whole university campus and then all around the city. The open day was really important in helping me choose which course to pick and whether to put Sheffield as my first choice, as it provided me with lots of information, which other universities had not done as well" (Maya)
