
Professor Mike Braddick

Mike graduated in History from Cambridge, where he also received his PhD in 1988. After two years working in the US, he joined the History Department at Sheffield in 1990 and was promoted to Professor in 2001. He has published extensively on early modern British history, including the early history of the British Empire, with a particular emphasis on the interconnections between social interests (such as class and gender) and the exercise of political power, as well as on popular politics and state formation.
He frequently acts in an advisory capacity to external bodies and other Universities in the UK and elsewhere, and is a member of the Editorial Board of Past and Present.
Mike is married with two children.
