The University of Sheffield has a long history of welcoming mature students in their return to full-time study.
As a mature student your application will be given special and individual consideration in relation to your relevant academic, professional and life experiences.
Academic preparation and entry requirements
Each of our academic departments look for evidence of recent and relevant academic preparation when assessing applications eg an appropriate Access to HE Diploma, Open University Courses or A Levels. This is to ensure that you have the necessary academic and study skills required to succeed during your time with us.
Access to HE Diploma courses are provided by many local colleges. The University of Sheffield’s Institute for Lifelong Learning also offers a part-time Foundation Programme in Combined Studies designed specifically for adult learners:

Applying for a place
