DOCTORAL TRAINING CENTRE IN FUNCTIONAL MATERIALS AND DEVICES

In February, the Engineering & Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC) will open the call for a new round of Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs). CDTs offer more focussed technical and non-technical training over a 4 year PhD programme in EPSRC priority areas, one of which has been identified as ‘Functional Materials’. This open day will outline how the ‘Doctoral Training Centre in Functional Materials & Devices’ plans to drive innovation in SMEs and OEMs in the functional materials and device sector by providing interdisciplinary PhD level research and training within integrated laboratories that house state of the art equipment for materials synthesis, processing, device design/modelling and characterization.

Joint India/UK symposium on

HUMAN PLURIPOTENT STEM CELLS: PROGRESS TOWARDS THERAPY. CONTRIBUTIONS FROM DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY

MONDAY 8 - WEDNESDAY 10 APRIL

Professor Peter W Andrews and Professor Harry Moore of the Centre for Stem Cell Biology, in collaboration with Professor Maneesha Indamer of the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scienctific Research, India, will be running this joint India/UK symposium.   The meeting will bring together key researchers from India and the UK to discuss the progress in developing applications for pluripotent human stem cells and address how developmental biology is contributing to that progress.
