University Accommodation Guarantee 2022-23

If you are applying and studying full time for the full academic year at The University of Sheffield, then you are guaranteed university accommodation as long as you apply by 31 August 2022, and you are guaranteed to live with University of Sheffield students. Please read the guarantee in full before applying for accommodation.

Undergraduate First Year Students:

If you make The University of Sheffield your firm choice through UCAS, you will be guaranteed a study bedroom in University-owned or partnership accommodation provided;

• You apply through UCAS and make Sheffield your firm choice of University and you accept a full-time academic place of study before 21 July 2022.
• You apply for University-owned or partnership accommodation before 29 July 2022.

If you apply to study at The University of Sheffield through results, confirmation and clearing or did not to apply by 29 July 2022, you are guaranteed a study bedroom in University-owned or partnership accommodation provided:

• You apply for University-owned or partnership accommodation from 18 August 2022 (for UK students A level results day) and no later than 31 August 2022.
• You hold an unconditional offer of study at The University Sheffield by 31 August 2022

Postgraduate Students:

All postgraduate (PGT & PGR) students are guaranteed accommodation in University-owned or partnership accommodation provided:

• You firmly accept an offer of study at the University of Sheffield on an award-bearing course by 29 July 2022.
• You apply for accommodation by 31 August 2022 and have met the conditions of your course and used your CAS number (if applicable) no later than 31 August 2022
• All Postgraduates are guaranteed accommodation suitable for single occupancy in subsequent years if attending a full-time academic course

Students not guaranteed Accommodation

Not all students are guaranteed accommodation. Exchange and Visiting students who require accommodation for one semester only are not guaranteed accommodation. Study bedrooms are available; you should apply for accommodation by no later than:

• 29 July 2022 to be considered for a study bedroom in Semester 1
• 14 January 2023 to be considered for a study bedroom in Semester 2

Students with family members can apply to live in one of our family properties. If you wish to be considered for family accommodation, please submit your application no later than 31 August 2022. Family accommodation is not guaranteed.

General information relating to the guarantee and subsequent offer of accommodation

• Undergraduate students can apply for University accommodation online from midMarch 2022 for students holding an Unconditional Firm (UF) offer of study and all students holding a Conditional Firm (CF) application.  When applying you will be able to self-select a room based on room type and choose a location.  The self-selection option will end on 15 June 2022 and students applying after this date will no longer be able to self-select a room and will need to choose a preference of room type and location and rooms will then be allocated according to preference by the accommodation team.  For UF students if you apply before 15 June 2022 you will also reserve your room when you apply by paying £150 deposit and setting up your payment plan, which is the means by which you will pay the rent in 2022-23.  For CF students offers of accommodation will be made following A level results day.
• Undergraduate students that did not hold an offer of accommodation or did not apply before 29 July 2022 will be able to apply after 18 August 2022.  When applications do open you will be able to choose a preference of room type and locations and rooms will be allocated according to preference and availability by the accommodation team.  Once allocated you will be sent an offer of accommodation when accepting this offer you will need to pay a £150 deposit and set up a payment plan, which is the means by which you will pay the rent in 2022-23.
• Postgraduate students can apply for University accommodation online from mid-March 2022 for students holding an Unconditional Accept (UA) offer. When applying you will be able to self-select a room based on room type and choose a location.  The self-selection option will end on 11 May 2022 and students applying after this date will no longer be able to self-select a room and will need to choose a preference of room type and location and rooms will then be allocated according to preference by the accommodation team.  For UA students if you apply before 11 May 2022 you will also reserve your room when you apply by paying £150 deposit and setting up your payment plan, which is the means by which you will pay the rent in 2022-23.
• Postgraduate students can apply for University accommodation online from mid-March 2022 and for students holding a Conditional Accept (CA) when applying you will need to choose a preference of room type and location and rooms and will then be allocated according to preference by the accommodation team.  This will happen once your offer changes to Unconditional.  Self-selection is not available.
• Students who decline the offer of accommodation or fail to accept by the closing date stated in the offer will forfeit the guarantee, and the offer of accommodation will be withdrawn.  If subsequently University-owned or partnership accommodation is required, a new application will be required
• Undergraduate and postgraduate students that apply for accommodation after 31 August 2022 are not guaranteed accommodation however; applications will still be accepted and accommodation offered subject to availability.
