There are lots of different people or departments you might need to speak to whilst you're living in University accommodation, both internal and external. We've compiled a list that includes health services, maintenance, finance and more.
Deposits and Inventories
It's really important that you check over your bedroom and shared communal areas as you're moving in and make a note of anything that's not quite right and add it to your inventory - this is what your end-of-tennancy inspection is compared to, and it also allows us to fix any issues. You need to complete the inventory within 7 days of moving in.
Fire safety is an important part of living in the residences to keep you and the rest of the community safe. We have compiled some top tips on staying safe regarding electrical appliances and when cooking.
Every year at Intro Weekend, we hold the Free Shop, where we give away items that have been donated by previous students - these are generally kitchen and homewares. All items have been cleaned and are in good condition. Queues start forming for the Free Shop early, and everything will go, so if you'd like to pick up a few bits make sure you're there early. You can find out about the time and location
Internet and Post
Internet is included in the cost of your rent at all our residences. Each residence also has it's own system for receiving post. You can find out more about how to access the internet and post boxes at your residence on the page linked below:
Residence Life Events
Residence Life events and activities start as soon as you arrive, take a look at their dedicated events page to find out what you can get involved in, including settling-in events to help you meet new people.
If there's something wrong with your accommodation, please report it as a maintenance request as soon as you recognise it, this is the only way maintenance issues can be resolved. Submitting a maintenance request is different depending on where you live:
Please report anything that you think needs to be fixed onto StarRez (maintenance system), including your bedroom, corridor, kitchen or anything you think or can see that needs to be fixed.
If you haven't yet signed onto StarRez, please visit portal.iqstudentaccommodation.com and follow the instructions on the attachment.
