Sheffield 3 - Self-catered accommodation

If you have been allocated to Sheffield 3 accommodation for the 2017-18 academic year, here is some more information about what to expect from your new home. Sheffield 3 includes 300 en suite rooms in 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 bed cluster apartments, which we have reserved for University of Sheffield students. 

Sheffield 3 is located around 15 minutes’ walk from the University and Students’ Union, which has been voted number one in the UK in the Times Higher Education Student Experience survey for the ninth year running. Sheffield 3 is also a short walk from the Shalesmoor tram stop, city centre and local shops, bars and restaurants.

Facilities in your apartment

Each apartment shares a kitchen/dining/living room. The living and dining areas are furnished with a coffee table, dining table, chairs and a TV. Kitchens are fully equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, iron, ironing board, kettle, toaster & vacuum cleaner.

Each en-suite study bedroom comes complete with a single or three-quarter size bed, wardrobe, desk, chair, chest of draws and a notice board. The en-suite bathrooms include a shower, washbasin, wall mirror and w.c. Fire alarms and smoke detectors are installed within the flats. All rooms have 30mb WiFi internet, inclusive in your rent.

On site facilities

There are staff on site 24 hours a day, including security team outside of office hours. There is CCTV operational throughout and the site has secure key fob access.

A common room is available with comfortable seating, pool table, table tennis, vending machine and 60” televisions with Sky TV. The on site launderette is open 24 hours a day, with both washing & drying facilities.

Limited parking is available and this is allocated on a first come, first served basis. There is a charge for this facility and spaces are not guaranteed. There are a number of external bike racks located in the courtyard.

Residence Life

As part of their rent, students who have been allocated to Sheffield 3 will also be able to take part in all the events, activities and sports included in Residence Life. 

Residence Mentors are experienced students who are happy to support you during your time in University accommodation and ensure a positive living experience for everyone. Your Residence Mentor will come to your apartment and greet you during your first few weeks here.

They’ll visit regularly while you’re living in University accommodation and can answer a lot of questions and help you deal with issues such as noise and disagreements if they arise. You will receive more information and contact details when you arrive.
