Collaboration

Our stakeholders

We collaborate with many stakeholders both in the University and externally, to ensure we provide the best experience for our students, customers and the wider community.

SUSheffield Students' Union

We work in collaboration with the Students’ Union to provide a better service to the University community and a fantastic student experience, for example, we work closely together on providing events and activities for Residence Life. Visit: su.sheffield.ac.uk/get-involved/residence-life to find out more about how we work together.

ACS hosted Cookery School classes as part of the Students’ Union ‘Give it a Go’ programme, which has proved popular. Students have enjoyed being taught how to cook a range of dishes by our team of professional chefs. The Cookery School runs weekly and gives students a chance to watch live demonstrations of dishes such as ‘spatchcock roast chicken’ and ‘build your own pizza’ being prepared, which they can then create themselves in our kitchens and take home with them.

Many of our environmental initiatives are supported by Sheffield on a Plate, which is run by the Students’ Union and we aim to support their projects too. Our newest project together has been on the ReFood food waste recycling campaign, which you can find out more about here: www.sheffield.ac.uk/accommodation/current/environment/refood

The local community

Local community

The local residents of Endcliffe, Ranmoor and the city centre are an important factor of the community feel in each of our student accommodation locations. We operate according to strict noise policies to minimise disruption in the community. We also host annual events, such as a Christmas Carol Service, to ensure that people living nearby always feel welcome and part of the University residences. Our convenience shop at Endcliffe, The Village Store, is also open to the public as well as students all year round for convenient shopping requirements.

City Taxis

City taxis

City Taxis work with us to keep our students safe and secure throughout their time in Sheffield. They are the sole operator of our Safe Taxi Scheme where students who have run out of money on a night out can hand in their UCard for a taxi cab ride and collect it when they pay their fare at the Students’ Union Building the next day.

British Heart Foundation

Staff across ACS, in partnership with staff in UNICUS and the Estates & Facilities Department, raised over £2,700 of donations for the charity via Just Giving.

Our Cow MollyOur Cow Molly

We have a strong partnership with local suppliers in the community, including the 'Made in Sheffield' dairy, Our Cow Molly. All the University's commercial outlets now use Our Cow Molly milk, which has helped enable the dairy to expand its operations.

Our partnership with Our Cow Molly has led to this local dairy winning the BBC Farming Awards 2016 'Future Food' Award.
