Exam Re-Sits

All MSc students with failed modules are entitled to have one attempt to resit them.  Resit marks will be capped at 50.  The resit date depends on the total number of failed modules, which will not be known until all taught modules have been completed in both semesters.

NOTE: Resits for modules from other departments may be at different times of the year and students need to adhere to the resit requirements of those departments. You should contact the relevant department for details of when the resit will take place.

Students who fail ACS6101:

• Any student who fails ACS6101 is required to complete resit assignments in March/April
• If this applies to you, you will be contacted via email with details of the resit requirement
• This will be your only chance to resit this module
• If you fail to pass this module after the resit, you will not be eligible for the award of an MSc

Students who need to resit one or two taught modules (not counting ACS6101):

• You will be given the option to resit these modules in Sheffield in week 1 of the next Academic Year (usually September)

• If you do not elect to take the resits in week 1, you must take them at the next available opportunity (ie. when the exam is normally scheduled), usually January for Sem1 modules and May/June for Sem 2 modules.

• If you fail to pass any modules after the resit, you may not be eligible for the award of an MSc

Students who need to resit more than two taught modules (not counting ACS6101):

• You will be required to resit these modules at the next available opportunity (ie. when the exam is normally scheduled), usually January for Sem1 modules and May/June for Sem 2 modules
• This will affect your graduation date. See details about graduation here: www.shef.ac.uk/graduation/winter/eligibility
• You must register online to resit: https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/ssid/exams/reassessment_pg
• Resits can be sat in Sheffield, or you can apply to sit them in your home country: https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/ssid/exams/exabrinf
• This will be your only chance to resit these modules
• Marks will be considered at the next Department Exam Board
• If you fail to pass any modules after the resit, you may not be eligible for the award of an MSc
