Information for ACSE First Year Undergraduates

James Gu Welcome to your first year in the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering (ACSE) at the University of Sheffield.  You have done really well to get here, and the staff and other students in the department are very pleased to have you join us.

In these web pages, I would like to help you to
•    find out about your course,
•    find out what is expected of you and
•    learn more about the Department.

Before the academic year starts, all new students will have Intro Week, starting on the 18th of September 2017.  In Intro Week you will register, you will meet the staff and other students in ACSE, and you will start to get used to University life.  It is important to participate in Intro Week sessions, so you will be ready to start classes on the 25th of September 2017.

After Intro Week, you will meet your personal tutor.  Your personal tutor will be an important point of contact if you have a personal problem that affects your academic work.  If your personal tutor is not available and your problem is urgent, please ask for advice in ACSE Reception or email acse-support@sheffield.ac.uk.  You can also see me, as your First Year Tutor.  If you have a problem with a module, rather than a personal problem, please talk to the module lecturer.
