After studying electronic and electrical engineering as well as information sciences at Supélec a top ranking French school of engineering, Romain had the opportunity to perform a double degree in partnership with Cranfield University, where he completed his MSc in aerospace vehicle design. He chose to specialise in avionics design while studying at Cranfield, so he could combine his background in electronic and electrical engineering with aerospace sciences.

Following his graduations from Supélec and Cranfield University, he decided to undertake a PhD at the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre (UTC) at The University of Sheffield within the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering. As a research associate working for the Rolls-Royce UTC, he currently develops novel control systems and monitoring strategies for gas turbine engines.

  • Optimal control and robust control
  • Distributed control and system partitioning strategies
