ACSE Robotics research in Channel 5's The Gadget Show and The Gadget Show LIVE
Tonight a swarm of miniature mobile robots used in ACSE robotics research will be shown in Channel 5's The Gadget Show Future Special.
Swarm robotics is an important and vibrant area of research and the potential future use of swarms of robots in domestic environments is illustrated in the show. In addition to domestic environments, the ability to control robot swarms could also prove hugely beneficial in other contexts ranging from military to medical.
Note: The particular type of miniature mobile robot used is the e-puck. The e-puck has been developed for research and educational purposes at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Switzerland. Information about the e-puck is available on http://www.e-puck.org
The Gadget Show Live
Swarm robotics demonstrations will also be conducted at this year’s Gadget Show Live, to be held at the NEC in Birmingham from 3-7 April 2013.
Come along to meet Dr Roderich Gross, head of the Natural Robotics Group at the University of Sheffield and member of the Sheffield Centre for Robotics (ScentRo) and find out about research within ScentRo and meet our human and robot teams at The Gadget Show Live: stand FT17.
